Our verdict

A great add-on experience — less ideal as your only shot at seeing the aurora.

Overview

Safartica is a well-established Rovaniemi safari company best known for operating the world's first electric snowmobile safaris. It also runs Vaattunki Wilderness Resort.

Its aurora products lean experiential: a lakeside picnic, aurora floating in rescue suits and a photo tour by bus, alongside a guaranteed small-group tour.

What the night is like

Aurora floating is the signature experience: you lie in a thermal rescue suit in a frozen lake and watch the sky. It's a site-based activity, so if the sky is clouded over you won't see the lights.
